Angel Talk Productions

It might seem strange to describe a musician like Allen as a throwback, but he’s an artist who embodies creative values that have largely gone out of style. With lustrous voice and soulful delivery, he hearkens back to a time when jazz, pop, and rhythm and blues often blended seamlessly. Combining scene-stealing charisma with heartfelt humility and a sincere belief in the trans-formative power of music, Allen has honed a repertoire of originals set to “state-of-the-art” arrangements that are equally smart and entertaining.

“I am a country-inspired storyteller,” Allen says. “I choose songs that have some relevance to my life experiences and to human vulnerabilities. I want the music I sing to stir emotions, to make a connection, to be accessible.”

It’s his finely honed music sensibility and country-hick attitude about the importance of communicating with audiences that makes him so personable. Allens’  gift for putting his own stamp on a song while capturing its essence has broad appeal.

“I remember when you could clearly understand all the lyrics, and every song was a story”. Allen infuses each song with his own unique style while always remaining true to the song itself.

Allens’ stylistically encompassing approach is beautifully documented on his latest CD, “Jumpin’ Jesus”. The album captures his soul-infused sound inspired by his love of Donny Hathaway and Al Green. His knack for pairing songs that enhance local accoustics, he delivers with casual intimacy, turning each piece into an incisive emotional journey, performing a selection from the portfolio of Angel Talk Productions , leading singing praise at Sunday services in Gilroy, California; the Garlic Capitol!  This massive musical works reflects many Bible stories, bringing instant life to an important story.

Allen is retained for the music and instrumental enrichment of a Gilroy public school chorus, and teaches vocal techniques: for the Park & Rec Department and the Unified School District Arts contracts,  recording future selections for Angel Talk Productions, accompanying himself and the church choral with keyboard technique that includes a powerful ostinato bass. In his words:

“As I think globally and work locally, my music reflects the world and everything in it”.

Herein, my weekly environment. I sleep a bit inland, as it is warmer. I travel by bicycle in Gilroy. The seashore is close by. On the way to and from the coastside are beautiful fields of…strawberries, tented bush berries, artichoke, and multi-colored lettuce. Apple orchards join oak forests patched with golden wild oat fields.
